Healthy Futures Camp provides a unique opportunity to help jump start a healthier future through a traditional summer camp experience.
At Healthy Futures Camp, participants learn about nutrition, physical activity, and healthy lifestyles. Campers participate in hands-on cooking experiences, fun physical activity opportunities, and other healthy lifestyle activities aimed to provide them with tools and strategies for healthy, happy lives and decreased risk of diabetes development. Traditional activities led by elders and community member volunteers are another component of camp. And of course, swimming, canoeing, campfires, horseback riding, and other fun camp activities are part of Healthy Futures Camp.
The intention of camp is to provide healthy lifestyle education, nutrition counseling & cooking skills, goal setting, emotional support, motivation, and to foster new friendships. Healthy Futures Camp has a full team of healthcare professionals (registered dietitians, nurses, pediatricians, behavioral health professionals), camp counselors, and community volunteers, working together to support your child.
Our Healthy Futures Program is designed for children between the ages of 8-12. Registration information is sent out to eligible participants each year in the late spring/early summer.
